Our Story

Care that leaves you with a plan, not a puzzle

Northwaite exists so a health question can be heard properly, explained properly, and followed up in writing.

The practice began when a small group of clinicians compared the notes people took on their way out of a visit. The notes were thin. The worry was not. People remembered a phrase, forgot the reason for a test, and spent the evening searching for a meaning the room had never actually given them. Northwaite was organised around the opposite ending: a short written summary, a named next step, and a clinician who expects questions.

We are a clinical team, not a directory of disconnected rooms. Family physicians, paediatricians, heart and nerve specialists, women’s health physicians, orthopaedic clinicians, internists, and diagnostic reviewers share a way of working. They document in plain language. They say when a symptom can be watched. They say when it should not.

A first visit usually starts with the story in your words. When did it begin, what changes it, what have you already tried, and what would a good month look like? Examination and tests come after that story, not instead of it. If a test will not change the decision, we would rather explain why it can wait.

How a visit unfolds

  • You tell us the concern and the outcome you hope for.
  • The clinician reviews history, medicines, and any readings you brought.
  • Findings are explained before any next step is chosen.
  • You leave with a written plan and a time to review it.

Northwaite does not provide emergency department care. If you have chest pain, severe breathlessness, collapse, heavy bleeding, or another life-threatening problem, contact your local emergency service at once. For problems that are worsening but not an emergency, use the appointment form and mark the request as urgent.

What Guides Us

Mission, Promise, and Daily Habits

Mission

To give every person who sits with us a clear account of their health and a next step they can actually follow.

Promise

We will not hurry past a question, hide a result in jargon, or add a test that does not change the plan.

Habit

Every clinician writes a summary. Every summary names what to watch and when to return.

The care we organise

Heart and circulation reviews look at patterns rather than a single cuff reading. Family medicine holds preventive care, long-running conditions, and the small worries that grow when they are dismissed. Paediatrics makes room for both the child and the adult who came with them. Women’s health covers cycle concerns, screening choices, and midlife change with as much or as little detail as you want. Orthopaedics pairs pain with a recovery boundary: what to move, what to pause, and when to look again. Internal medicine untangles overlapping symptoms and crowded medicine lists. Diagnostic review translates laboratory and imaging reports so a number is not left to speak for itself.

If you are unsure where to begin, ask for family medicine on the appointment form. We would rather place you well than ask you to guess the specialty.
